    Basic: Comprehensive basic foundations course. Required of Research personnel before involvement in human subjects research. This must be taken once.

    Refresher: Case base course designed to reinforce understanding of core issues related to human subjects research. This course is due once every three years. (This course is first due three years after completion of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Basic Course.)

    HIPS: Both courses must be taken to receive credit. 1. Data Security and HIPAA Training Course; 2. HIPAA for Research Update. Courses do not expire.

    Good Clinical Practice Refresher recommended every three years.

    Rigor, Reproducibility and Ethical Behavior in Biomedical Research Course. Expire after three years.

  • For a single case report, the author may render a decision as to whether or not IRB review is required. When the identification of a case is in question, contact the PPHS/IRB Office for further guidance.

    For a case report or case series involving more than one case, the decison as to whether IRB review is required must be made by the PPHS/IRB Office.
